The Aurora Cape is live for Java and Bedrock until October 14: watch 15 minutes of Dungeons II on Twitch or 3 minutes on TikTok. Full guide, deadlines, fixes, and the $1 backup.

Mojang launched Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29 and marked the occasion with a new free cape for the main game: the Aurora Cape, a soft pastel design that looks like the northern lights draped over your shoulders. It works on both Java and Bedrock, it is free for the next two weeks if you put in a few minutes of stream-watching, and it is one of the prettier capes Mojang has shipped in a while. Here is exactly how to claim it, the deadlines that matter, and the cheap backup if you miss the window.
Aurora Cape at a glance
- Design: aurora-style pastel gradient
- Editions: Java and Bedrock, on the same Microsoft account
- How to get it: watch Minecraft Dungeons II streams on Twitch or TikTok, claim a code, redeem it
- Window: September 29 to October 14, 2026 (ends 11:59 PM Pacific on the 14th)
- Code expiry: unredeemed codes stop working on October 31, 2026
- Backup: a verified code from MineCapes for $1 if you cannot watch or miss the deadline
How to get the Aurora Cape free
There are two routes, and both are quick:
- Twitch: link your Twitch and Microsoft accounts through Twitch’s Drops settings, then watch any Partner or Affiliate streaming in the Minecraft Dungeons II category for 15 minutes. The drop appears in your Twitch inventory; claim it there to get your code.
- TikTok: watch any Dungeons II stream that has Game Rewards enabled for 3 minutes and claim the reward.
Then go to minecraft.net/redeem, sign in with the Microsoft account you actually play on, and enter the code. The cape lands in the Java skin selector and the Bedrock dressing room once things sync.
Three things that tripped people on day one
- Wrong category. On launch day, Twitch was mistakenly awarding the cape for streams in the regular Minecraft category. That has been fixed: since September 30, only the Minecraft Dungeons II category counts. Check the category before you start the timer.
- Cape showing on one edition only. Several players reported getting it on Bedrock but not Java. Almost always this is a sync delay or a second Microsoft account. Make sure both editions are signed into the same account, fully restart the game, and give it a few hours before assuming it failed.
- Waiting until the last day. Watch drops break, Twitch has outages, and Mojang does not extend windows. Claim it this week.
How rare will the Aurora Cape be?
Honest answer: not very. Watch drops are the most generous way Mojang distributes capes, and a two-week window across Twitch and TikTok will put this one on a lot of accounts. For collectors it sits in the same tier as the Copper and Menace capes, not the Crafter or Corrupted Creeper. That is also why it is cheap to buy after the fact. What makes it worth having is the design itself: it is a genuinely good-looking cape, and once October 31 passes, Mojang never reissues it.
The three capes of the Dungeons II launch
The Aurora Cape is the only one you can earn with a few minutes of your time. The other two are tied to the game itself: the Twisted Cape, a warden-spine design that went to players who pre-ordered Dungeons II before September 28, and the Hero Cape, for anyone who played the original Minecraft Dungeons and signs in to Dungeons II before December 31, 2026. Neither uses redemption codes, so neither can be bought or sold; if you qualify, sign in and they attach to your account automatically.
Can’t watch, or missed it?
We stock verified, unused Aurora Cape codes at minecapes.gg for $1: delivered to your email the moment payment confirms, redeemed by you on your own account through Mojang’s official page, covered by our replacement guarantee. It is the cheapest cape in the store on purpose. If you can spare 15 minutes on Twitch before October 14, do that instead; if you can’t, one dollar solves it.
FAQ
Is the Aurora Cape free?
Yes, until October 14, 2026, by watching 15 minutes of Minecraft Dungeons II streams on Twitch or 3 minutes on TikTok and redeeming the code.
Does it work on both Java and Bedrock?
Yes. One code, redeemed on your Microsoft account, unlocks it on both editions.
When do the codes expire?
October 31, 2026. Redeem as soon as you claim; do not sit on the code.
Do I need to own Minecraft Dungeons II?
No. You only need to watch streams in its category. Owning the game is required for the Twisted and Hero capes, not the Aurora Cape.
Can I still get it after October 14?
Not from Mojang. Unredeemed codes are the only route, which is what our $1 listing is for.
