How to Get the Gamescom 2026 Cape: The Corrupted Creeper Revealed

Dungeons II:Corrupted Creeper Cape

Update to our Gamescom cape coverage – published August 26, 2026, as Gamescom opens in Cologne. Read the corrupted creeper cape profile for the complete story so far.

The Gamescom cape finally has a name: Corrupted Creeper Cape

The mystery cape Mojang teased and un-teased yesterday is official. It is the corrupted creeper cape. There is a twist nobody predicted: it is a Minecraft Dungeons II cape, revealed at Gamescom 2026. Mojang even reposted the deleted Instagram story with a new caption: ‘Get your Dungeons II Cape in person!”

The design matches what the leaked story showed: a creeper face with glowing light-blue eyes on dark navy cloth – the “corrupted” take on the classic creeper. Collectors will recognize the face-on-cloth format from a distinguished family: the Minecon 2011 Cape, the Founder’s Cape, the 15th Anniversary Cape, and the Follower’s Cape all follow the same pattern. This one joins that lineage.

How it is being distributed right now

If you are at Gamescom this week, here is exactly where to go: the Minecraft Dungeons II section of the Xbox booth in Hall 7 at Koelnmesse, any day from August 26 to 30. Staff there are handing out physical cape cards – and they are collectibles in their own right. Two designs are confirmed so far: one shows the hero Kellen holding a war hammer, the other shows Valorie with a sword, both wearing the cape. The back of each card carries the redemption code, a QR code, and the legal fine print.

Two practical notes for attendees: go early in your visit, because booth lines at Gamescom only grow – and do not throw the card away after redeeming. Physical cards from cape events have their own collector market.

The online method is still coming

Mojang has confirmed an online way to unlock the Corrupted Creeper Cape but has said nothing about when or how. Based on every recent precedent, expect a short window – the Builder Cape’s online codes lasted under a day. Join our Discord and we will ping the moment it goes live so you can claim it free.

One important detail we are still confirming

Because this is officially a Dungeons II cosmetic, the open question is exactly where the cape appears once redeemed: Dungeons II only, or also on your regular Minecraft profile the way other event capes work. The code cards redeem to your Microsoft account, which is how cross-game capes have always worked, but we will not state it as fact until codes are being redeemed and verified. This post will be updated the moment that is confirmed.

Codes have an expiry date – and that matters

The physical cards’ codes are marked to expire around September 2027. That gives unused codes a long shelf life, but not an infinite one – and it shapes the collector math. Once Gamescom ends on August 30, no more physical codes enter the world. Every unredeemed card from this week is part of a fixed, slowly shrinking supply.

Can’t be in Cologne? Your route is live

We currently only sell Java and Bedrock capes, if you would like to see this cape in MineCapes.gg stock, don’t forget to write it as a suggestion in our Discord Server.
